Marking of PGM drill bits

PGM certified hammer drill bits (e. g. SDSplus, SDSmax) and masonry drill bits (rotary or percussion drill bits with cylindrical shank) are marked with PGM mar in addition with the name or trademark of the manufacturer and/or with a manufacturer code (two digit number or letter combination) as follows:

PGM mark with manufacturer name and/or code of two letters or number Nummer
Sampl Co. or.  AB or  72

Eine Kennzeichnung nur mit der Prüfmarke, ohne Herstellernamen oder Zahlen- bzw. Buchstabenkombination, ist nicht zulässig.

The mapping between codes and manufacturer names is strictly confidential. Therefore, no lists with the codes and manufacturer names are provided to the public.

If you are not sure, if a drill bit is marked correctly, please contact pgm@pgm.eu.

A CE mark for drill bits is not possible, because they are not covered by an European directive or regulation, which foresees a CE marking, as the European Constrcution Products Regulation305/2011/EU or the Machinery Directive   2006/42/EU. Drill bits and other tools like abrasives, technical brushes, saw blades and hand tools are covered by the European general Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EU. This directive does not foresee a CE mark.

Also a GS mark according to the German Product Safety Act can not be used for drill bits, because they can be used with a machine. Therefore, they are not “ready-to-use products” in the sense of this law.
